Prevention

Improved knowledge and method development are crucial for successful preventive work to combat prostitution and trafficking in human beings, as well as for effective measures in other areas of intervention. Talita Asia collaborates with NGOs to counteract the demand for prostitution and increase knowledge about human trafficking for sexual purposes. Talita Asia is a member of the Network of NGOs against Trafficking in Mongolia. Talita Asia staff participated in lectures, training, workshops and conferences for capacity building, method development and experience sharing.

Protection

Villa Talita Asia opened its door in the fall of 2014. The house, at a safe location, has a capacity for up to 4 women and consists of two bedrooms, a living room, a dining area, a kitchen, and an outdoor seating area with a garden. Government agencies, including the District Police Departments, Family, Child and Youth Development Agencies (FCYDA), and the State Child Protection Offices cooperate with Talita Asia, to place girls, boys and women who are in need of urgent help and protection. Talita Asia can provide staff to stay with them during the day or night until they feel safe and comfortable, and we also have a 24/7 phone line available.

After the completion of the twelve-month program, Talita Asia offers a housing and mentorship program by assisting them to find an individual solutions for their future. It includes helping them to enroll in a vocational training course if one doesn’t have a profession or vocational skills to find a job; finding jobs, or helping to arrange a safe return to their homes. 

Since its establishment in 2014, we provided long and short-term (3-24 months) help and support to 34 girls and 4 boys under 18 years, and 15 women with children (31).

Public awareness

We, at Talita Asia, have a strong desire to combat prostitution and human trafficking for sexual purposes in Mongolia. We believe that every little effort makes a difference.

In the scope of our efforts in combating prostitution, human trafficking for sexual purposes, and increasing awareness of what WE, Talita Asia, do here in Mongolia, Talita Asia regularly holds lectures at various organizations, including the Ministry of Justice, Crime Prevention Council, Mongolian University of Science and Technology, the Mongolian Court, Secondary and Primary schools, National Televisions to raise awareness and to adapt Swedish Sex Purchase Act in Mongolia as a part of our vision, and we also cooperate with the relevant stakeholders, government agencies, the FCYDA, the District Police Departments, Educational institutes and as well as the other NGOs, organizing the training as follow:

  • Shelter management
  • Service provision
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Reintegration
  • Operation of a specialized residential center
